Unaya aligns all UCB departments around business intelligence approach
Promoting a concept can be a major challenge. That was the conclusion of Belgian pharma group UCB’s IT department when it wanted to introduce a conceptual business intelligence solution throughout the company as an innovative way of looking at its dealings. Living Stone understood the strategic need to align all departments around an idea and mission that could be easily branded internally. They suggested positioning the project in a different yet inviting way and with a novel name – “Unaya”.
A journey to transparent and efficient partnership
“Their proposal was right on target,” says Marc Senterre, UCB’s VP IT Enterprise Technologies, Architecture & Processes. “When we introduced the project’s name and mission, we were able to add an interesting and inviting story: in Peru, an indigenous tribe uses “unaya” to describe a wise man that gathered a lot of knowledge in different parts of his body and converts this knowledge into his behavior.” This metaphor appealed to every department. From day one, all were aligned on the project’s mission, which Living Stone defined as ‘a journey to transparent and efficient partnership’, underscoring the balanced partnership needed to succeed in the challenge.
In six months, all departments had integrated the four project tracks into their workflows. This was primarily the result of the right branded concept, which allowed “all to sit at the same table around a unifying name and concept”, underscores Marc Senterre. “Now that the project is concluded with all its goals achieved, we are introducing Unaya on the other side of the Atlantic, where the concept seems equally likeable.”
