Employee identification happens because of two main drivers: the need to define one’s place in the organization (self-categorization) and the rewards related to group membership (self-enhancement). Aligning these two drivers through the adequate employee communication causes employees to align with the organization’s ambitions, which results in efficient and supportive behavior.
To achieve this, we develop employee communication that combines flow with structure and goes along three lines: live channels support bottom-up and top-down information flows (management meetings, memo’s,…), parallel channels take care of lateral communication and underscore cooperation and shared perspective (intranet, workgroups, brochures,…) and finally grapevine channels stimulate interpersonal trust and cooperation (company bar and restaurant, happy hours,…).
